Form Guide

Last week, Pats shocked the Bulgarian outfit thanks to an 87th minute strike from Serge Atakayi. It was a great win for the reigning FAI Cup champions who went into the first leg as big underdogs.

Speaking after the game, manager Tim Clancy praised his side for their disciplined performance agaisnt a good side.

Clancy said:

"It was a very good defensive, and disciplined performance,

"We had a few bookings early in the game which I thought were very soft, we seemed to be getting penalised for every contact and getting booked for very little. The opposition were not really getting booked for any tackles or pushes.

"We defended resolutely, and stuck to the game plan to frustrate them and limit them. How we dealt with crosses was excellent and still had a threat on the counter-attack. In the last couple of week’s we’ve left back-passes short, so it was good tonight we were on the other end of it."

Prior to the this round, Pats beat FC Mura 6-5 on penalties after the sides couldn't be seperated over the two legs.

Despite their up and down league form, this European run is giving St. Patrick's Athletic fans a lot to be excited about, and once they don't lose against CSKA  Sofia, it will guarantee them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.
