Manchester United are a club that has not had the best of luck with loans in recent years.

Adnan Januzaj is obviously the most high-profile example of a loan move that can go badly wrong, but speaking to the press today ahead of his side's trip to Stoke City, Jose Mourinho has raised some of his concerns about a decision that was made on deadline day.

Andreas Pereira is a talented young player that a lot of Man Utd fans and coaches have high hopes for, but in a bid to secure more playing time he decided to leave the club on loan and join Valencia in Spain where he played last season for Granada and enhanced his reputation despite the club being relegated.

Mourinho was hoping that the Brazil U20 international would stay and fight for opportunities at Old Trafford, but as he returns to Spain, Jose has questioned his desire to fight when things get tough.

It was a personal decision that I don't agree with, a decision I don't think honestly is the best decision for him, a decision that disappoints me.

He has the potential to be fighting for a position, opportunities and to be a Manchester United player.

His decision can be considered a young player who wants to play every weekend but also a young player that is not ready to fight for something difficult and it's difficult to play in Manchester United's midfield.

You have to be ready to fight for the position and I am disappointed he left.

But was his decision, I opened the door, he has a long-term contract, we have the option to bring him back on Jan. 1, so is not a drama but is a decision which disappoints me a little bit.

Mourinho is not shy when it comes to taking a hard stance on one of his players and letting the media know about it, but it comes down to how much playing time Pereira would get this season, and considering Ander Herrera and Michael Carrick are struggling to get a look in early on, it's understandable that he would get itchy feet.

But his manager isn't thrilled, and it will be interesting to see how these comments go down when Pereira gets wind of them..
