While they have yet to appoint a new manager to replace Jurgen Klopp, it seems likely that Liverpool will partake in some intriguing transfer business this summer.

The club has already made some changes at boardroom level, with Michael Edwards returning after his departure a few years ago. As well as that, Richard Hughes will arrive from Bournemouth as their new sporting director.

It is likely that those two men will control the Liverpool's transfer policy moving forward, an area that had largely been dictated by Klopp in recent times. As a result, it will be interesting to see what direction they opt to go down over the coming months.

Edwards was known for his buy low, sell high model during his first stint at the club. However, he could look to sign more established stars considering Liverpool's current standing in the game.

Spanish outlet Fichajes are reporting that Liverpool are willing to submit a 'crazy' bid of €150million to sign Federico Valverde from Real Madrid this summer.

Capable of playing in central midfield or wide on the right, the Uruguayan has been a key part of the Los Blancos squad for a number of seasons now. At 25-years old, he should just now be entering his prime.

Real Madrid will have a couple of high profile arrivals over the coming months, with Kylian Mbappe and Endrick both set to move to the Santiago Bernabeu. As a result, they may have to move one or two players on in order to balance the books.

You would imagine that it is unlikely that Valverde would be amongst that bunch, although you can see why Liverpool would be interested in the player.

He is a hugely talented footballer, as evidenced by his goal against Manchester City last night.

The player has a €1billion release clause in his current contract and it would likely take him to push for a move away from Madrid in order for the club to consider his sale.
