The Liverpool Echo are reporting that Liverpool are interested in signing Nigerian winger Moses Simon from Gent. The forward, who stands at 5ft 5in, is thought to have a price tag of around £10 million.

Simon was all set to appear at this summer's World Cup, having been named in Gernot Rohr's 30-man provisional squad, but unfortunately the player limped out of training on May 24th and a scan later revealed that the Nigerian suffered a thigh injury that would keep him sidelined for a month, ruling him out of this summer's showpiece.

Rohr bemoaned the 22-year-old's absence, praising his contributions in helping Nigeria qualify for the World Cup, and called him an 'important player' in their qualification campaign.

Simon has made 20 appearances for Nigeria since winning his first cap in 2015, and scored one goal in their World Cup qualification campaign.

The winger took to Instagram to wish his team mates well after being ruled out of the tournament:

Simon was signed by Gent on a three-year contract in January 2015 from Slovakian side AS Trenčín, and has scored 21 goals in 136 appearances since joining the Belgian side. The winger would more than likely be signed as added depth for Liverpool's front three, with the 22-year-old drawing similarities to Sadio Mane with his pace and direct play.

Here's the inevitable 'Welcome To Liverpool' video, which gives you some idea why the Anfield side is interested in the Nigerian prospect:
