Manchester United are coming to Dublin this Sunday, as part of their pre-season preparations ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. However it seems like many of their first-team squad will not feature at the Aviva, despite the high price for tickets.

We have all the info you need on the Red Devils' visit to Ireland.

Who will Manchester United play in Dublin?

Manchester United will play a pre-season friendly against La Liga side Athletic Bilbao at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Sunday, 6th August 2023, at 4pm.

What team will Manchester United select against Athletic Bilbao?

The match in Dublin will mark Manchester United's final pre-season game before the Premier League season gets underway.

They have spent the summer on tour before getting the 2023-24 season underway, and have played several games across both Europe and the USA against top class European opposition.

It will be intriguing to see how the team selection works out for United's game against Bilbao. A similar tactic last year saw United play in Oslo the day before another friendly at Old Trafford.

That time, the team's main stars were split across the two matches. First-team stars David de Gea, Marcus Rashford, and Bruno Fernandes were among those to play in Oslo, while the following day's game saw Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Christian Eriksen, and Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford. So, either way, fans can hope to see some of Manchester United's biggest names in action.

Against Lens on Saturday, Erik Ten Hag selected the majority of Manchester United's first team to start. It's highly unlikely any of these players will feature on Sunday.

There was some palpable anger on social media about the team news from Man Utd fans on social media on Saturday.

Can I get tickets for Manchester United v Athletic Bilbao?

Unfortunately, tickets for Manchester United's friendly against Athletic Bilbao in the Aviva Stadium are sold out.

The official Aviva stadium asks that if you need information on ticketing please contact either Ticketmaster or the event organiser, Manchester United.

Tickets went on general sale through Ticketmaster on Thursday, June 15th at 12pm Irish time.

Depending on some circumstances a small number of tickets may go on sale, on the days coming up to the match.

This happens as Ticketmaster allows people who have purchased tickets to sell their tickets on the site if they are no longer able to attend the event.

The tickets can be bought from this link.

Can I watch Manchester United v Athletic Bilbao on TV?

Alternatively, the game will also be broadcast live on Manchester United's in-house channel MUTV.

Have Manchester United played in the Aviva Stadium before?

Manchester United have played in the Aviva Stadium twice. They played in the opening game of the stadium in August 2010, when United faced a League of Ireland all-star XI.

United went on to win the game 7-1, with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Nani lining out for the side, who were captained by Irishman John O'Shea.

They returned to the stadium in 2017 for a friendly against Italian side Sampdoria, and won 2-1 thanks to goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata.

They also played a competitive game in the Aviva Stadium's predecessor Lansdowne Road, playing a European Cup tie against Waterford in 1968, when they were defending European champions.

United won 3-1 in the first leg in Dublin, thanks to a hat-trick from Denis Law.
