The world's most talked about wonderkid could have the hype ratcheted up another few notches over the next couple of months after he was named in Real Madrid's squad for the Champions League knockout rounds.

Martin Odegaard turned 16 on 17th of December, just in time for Madrid to swoop in during the transfer window and make him the best paid 16 year old the world of football has ever seen. Odegaard was put into Zinedine Zidane's Castilla (Real Madrid B) squad and it seems the club are very happy with him so far given that they've named him in their 25 man A-list squad.

It's unlikely Carlo Ancelotti will see fit to use the Norwegian during their second round tie with Schalke at the end of the month but if he does then Odegaard would be become the youngest ever Champions League player, beating Celestine Babayaro who has the held the record for over 20 years.

The former Chelsea defender played for Anderlecht against Steaua Bucure?ti during the 1994/95 group stages at the age of just 16 years and 87 days.
