NEC avoided automatic relegation from the Eredivisie on Saturday by drawing 2-2 away to Champions Ajax. An 88th minute goal from Iranian winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh equalised Bojan Krkic's goal which had put Ajax 2-1 up just five minutes earlier.

Bottom team Roda won 1-0 away to Go Ahead Eagles but NEC's draw meant that they went down despite the win.

NEC now face a relegation playoff to stay in the Eredivisie.
