Celtic were dealt a major blow earlier this week when news of Boli Bolingoli's breaking of Scottish social distancing rules came to light.

The defender travelled to Spain without the club's permission, failing to quarantine before playing in the club's game against Kilmarnock. Celtic's next two fixtures were postponed as a result, adding to what is set to be a very busy schedule for the upcoming season.

Disciplinary action against the player remains ongoing, with the club themselves now having been hit with a charge from the SPFL for Bolingoli's actions. The player himself is also facing up to an eight-game ban.

Speaking this afternoon ahead of tomorrow's Champions League game against KR Reykjavik, manager Neil Lennon said he is disappointed that the club could be punished for the actions of one player.

Disappointed for the club.

I think we have been at the forefront of getting the game up and running. All the procedures, all the protocols, and it is down to the actions of one individual really.

But we will hold our hands up, if we are accountable, we will have to accept that, take it and move on.

What we don't want is the game to shut down again or any sort of mishaps, if you want to call it that.

Two clubs, Aberdeen and ourselves, are embroiled in this.

I think it is unfortunate from my point of view as a manager, the majority of the players here and the staff and people at the club have worked really hard, tirelessly, so we will try to set the highest standards we can.

Tuesday's game in Glasgow will be the only fixture in a one-off tie against the Icelandic side.
