Friend of Taylor Swift and scorer of Ireland's only goal at Euro 2012 Sean St Ledger has been cut from DC United's pre-season roster. The former Leicester City centre-half has had a wretched time lately with injuries and having a loan spell with Ipswich finish after a month last December with not a single appearance.
St Ledger made two appearances for DC United during their pre-season tour but that was not enough to convince them to offer him a contract.
St Ledger is only 30 so here's hoping someone picks up a man that holds 37 caps for Ireland and became a fixture in Giovanni Trapattoni's side. After all, say what you like about Trap, he could spot a defender.
St Ledger has, over the past few months, indicated that he would consider an offer from the League of Ireland if it came his way. With another club seemingly passing up the opportunity to sign him, you can't help but wonder if the domestic game is becoming a serious possibility for him.
