What's your opinion on the FAI retaining the service of Giovanni Trapattoni? Was it the right decision or should they have gone after Harry Redknapp, finances be damned?

Great potential in the League of Ireland

I'd have to agree that Irish footballs problems go much further than Trapattoni and a witch hunt is a bit of a useless exercise.

Like Niall Fitzpatrick who wrote in an overhaul of the FAI structure from the youngest levels to junior and senior league football is necessary.

So is more care and interest in the League of Ireland. Anyone who watches the League on a regular basis either at their local ground or keeps up with it through MNS on RTÉ know theres great potential over the long-term to develop a solid league that could even potentially produce some internationals again in future - it needs help and interest from the FAI first though.

The Trapattoni affair is mostly a sideshow and missing the point. Its an easy fix to fire Trap and say thats change, when it just isn't.

Trap not the man to bring Ireland forward

It is a decent result to be fair but I think a certain degree of realism has to be applied.

The Faroes put a massive effort into their game v Sweden and were close enough to getting a very good result. You would imagine they were completely exhausted after it considering most of their players are semi pro.

For me the win doesn't change anything, Trap needed to go before the Euros and he needs to go now. Ireland have decent players now and some incredibly exciting guys coming through.

Trap is not the guy to bring them forward.

Dunphy doesn't matter.

Under no circumstances should Trap be let go.

Its not his fault that the players play so poorly. Dunphy wanted McCarthy gone, he wanted Jack gone, he wanted The Gaffer gone, so his opinion doesn't really matter.

Leave Trapp till his contract is up or util he leaves voluntarily. This will be his last job as International coach.

Trap staying is for the best.

Trapattoni staying is for the best. Mick McCarthy was the only other realistic option.

Liam Brady was right when he said that the rest of international football would have laughed at us if we have given Trap the door and that's because we would have replaced him with McCarthy.

We would have replaced one of the greatest managers in European football history with someone who was sacked by Wolves.
