Croatia have hit the front against Turkey in their Group D clash, through the bastard lovechild of Gail Platt and David Guetta, Luka Modric. It's been a tense/awful game, but has been lit up by this long-range Modric volley. In real-time it looked like a Modric boom-missle, but replays were not kind to the Turkish 'keeper Babacan.
He possibly should have done better, imitating Igor AKinfeev and the Slovak keeper from yesterday in managing to dive efficiently in his attempt to grasp air.
A dipping volley is usually difficult to keep out, but when it dips that much?

It was a good strike by Modric, but we feel it wouldn't have happened in the halcyon days of Rustu.
