Brendan Lynskey last night questioned why a reception was held in Pearse Stadium for the Galway team. He told Balls.ie today that this is because the ground is hard to reach and receptions should be held for the minor and senior teams in Ballinasloe, Loughrea and Eyre Square.

It shouldn't be brought to Pearse Stadium. It should be brought to Ballinasloe, Loughrea and Galway. Simply because Pearse Stadium is so inconvenient for people parking. When we won All-Irelands it was never in Pearse Stadium, it was always in Eyre Square. It could be even held as far out as Castlegar, where cars could be parked, in Castlegar Sports Complex. But I didn't agree with it going to Pearse Stadium.

To me, the reception should have been in Castlegar Sports Complex because that's where the home of hurling is. It would have been more suitable for a homecoming. Pearse Stadium wouldn't have been the ideal place.

Definitely there should be a homecoming, it's good for the kids, but it should be somewhere more central.

Lynskey stands over his assertion that Galway will find it hard to get back to the final in 2016.

I think coming back next year will be twice as hard, because I think Tipperary and Clare will fancy their chances next year. It depends on the reaction of the players to that beating (on Sunday).

I'm only going on history. 2012 we were in the All-Ireland final. We never qualified in 2013, did we? And the following year, we didn't come back. Tipperary beat us in Thurles.

It's a lot harder to come back especially after playing so well in the first half and having such a disappointing second half. For the players to try and live with that and come to terms with that, it can be hard. We know ourselves what's it's like trying to come back.

We lost '85 and '86 and by the grace of God, we won in '87, but if we hadn't won that year, we probably wouldn't have won an All-Ireland.
