Daniel Flynn was shown a red card 11 minutes into the second half between Kildare and Galway at Newbridge.

Flynn, one of Kildare's most influential players in this season's championship, was involved in an off the ball incident with Galway's Seán Andy Ó Ceallaigh.

The 23-year-old appeared to swing an arm at the Galway fullback in frustration at been held. Ó Ceallaigh ended up on the deck holding his head.

Kildare were two points down at the time when referee Sean Hurson sent Flynn to the line. Despite a valiant effort by those who remained on the pitch for Kildare, they fell by three points for their second loss in the Super 8.

It was Galway's second win of the new quarter-final stage.
