Former RTÉ Director General Dee Forbes has stepped down from her role on the board of GAAGO, it has been confirmed to Balls this evening.

It was announced earlier today that Ms Forbes had tendered her resignation from her role with the national broadcaster with immediate effect amid the ongoing controversy surrounding payments made to Ryan Tubridy.

The news about undisclosed payments to the former host of The Late Late Show broke late last week, with it being revealed that he had received a total of €345,000 on top of his published annual salary between 2017-2021, leading to some serious questions relating to the governance within RTÉ.

The board of RTÉ had accepted her resignation as Director General, although it was unclear how this would affect other roles she held.

As a joint venture between RTÉ and the GAA, Ms Forbes had also been granted a place on the board of GAAGO.

A spokesperson for RTÉ told Balls that she will no longer occupy this role, with it being confirmed that she has resigned all her offices.

The streaming service has been given a larger role in broadcasting games this year, with a large number of fixtures in both the Gaelic football and hurling championships moved behind a paywall for the 2023 season in shakeup to the previous broadcasting deal.

Ms Forbes is also a member of the Commercial Advisory Group at Munster Rugby, with a spokesperson for the province confirming to Balls that she is part of the group that 'meets quarterly to provide advice and guidance on commercial matters where relevant'.

GAAGO is set to broadcast two big games this weekend, with the All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals featuring Kerry vs Tyrone and Armagh vs Monaghan set to be shown on the service.
