All Six Massive GAA Games To Be Televised This Week Despite Clashes

With the Super 8 upon us, and with the tighter Championship calendar closing in, the choices the GAA have made regarding their schedule were always going to force clashes in fixtures at crucial parts of the competitions.

In particular, hurling and football seem to appear almost incompatible these days with so many extra games  in a shorter period of time. It is something that is sure to give broadcasters headaches as they attempt to cater to all fans.

In the case of next weekend, it has caused a particular problem with football Super 8 games and hurling Quarter-Finals scheduled for the same time on Sunday. Thankfully for fans, it has been confirmed that all six games this weekend will be broadcast live on TV, albeit with Sunday's games competing with each other.

On Saturday, with Group 2 getting the Super 8s under way, Sky Sports will show Roscommon Vs. Tyrone at 5pm, with RTE following them from Croke Park with Dublin vs Cork.

On Sunday, both hurling quarter finals will take place live on RTE 2. At the same time as Cork V Kilkenny however, Sky Sports will have Donegal V Meath from Ballybofey, while during Tipperary V Laois, RTE 1 will compete with RTE 2 as they broadcast Kerry V Mayo live from Killarney at 4pm.

While splitting the audience across both sports in such massive games is far from ideal, there is at least relief that all games will be available.

It's difficult to see however why the six games couldn't have happened across the weekend, with three games on Saturday (at 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm), and three on Sunday (1pm, 3pm, and 5pm) so the GAA and broadcasters wouldn't have to force football and hurling fans to choose between the games.
