Gaoth Dobhair secured a fairytale first ever Ulster Club SFC title last weekend with an extra-time victory over Scotstown in Healy Park and the Donegal club have certainly enjoyed it.

It was the first time a Donegal club has won the Ulster championship since 1975 and was a well-earned one-point victory after an extremely entertaining encounter in horrendous conditions. The result sets up a semi-final clash against Galway kingpins Corofin next February. For veterans Neil McGee and Kevin Cassidy, that is an encounter they are eagerly anticipating.

Sunday's triumph was a particularly sweet one for Kevin Cassidy. The former Donegal star missed out on an All-Ireland medal due to a fall-out with then manager Jim McGuinness and retired from club football in 2016, only to return for one more go. He kicked 0-2 in the final and has expertly documented the celebrations since.

An elated Kevin Cassidy told BBC just how much it meant after the game: "GAA is everything in our parish. To be kings of Ulster heading into December, it's the stuff of dreams."
