Mayo fullback Ger Cafferkey was substituted at half time in the National league game against Down on Saturday evening as a result of injuries he sustained in a clash with Down's Conor Laverty.

The dual between Ger Cafferkey and Benny Coulter was the most interesting aspect of the first half. Cafferkey was marshalling Coulter extremely effectively until a reckless challenge from Laverty ended the full-back’s involvement.

Cafferkey posted a picture of his injury to Twitter yesterday evening.

Down won the game on a score of 0-13 to 0-11.
