Tyrone ran up a five-point lead by half-time today in their round 4 qualifier encounter against Cork. Throughout the opening half, Cork looked lifeless and struggled to come to terms with the game. They were further restricted after they lost full-back Jamie O'Sullivan to a black card, something Sky Sports pundit Jim McGuinness was highly critical of.

Referee Maurice Deegan deemed Jamie O'Sullivan to have committed a deliberate trip, but McGuinness felt it was improper use of the black card.

If that is a black card situation I think the game is in trouble, to be honest with you. The black card was brought in to stop cynical play, deliberate play, people grabbing fellas with both arms around the waist and dragging them to the ground.

To me that is very, very harsh. The consequence for the players can be massive. They put the whole year into training all of a sudden you are in the stand. Sometimes someone can go in and take your place.

James Horan and Peter Canavan also criticised Maurice Deegan. Horan said 'Maurice from time to time has performances like this. I think there was a couple of things there.'
