Joe Brolly probably succeeded in catching everyone's attention with the opening line of his Gaelic Life column this week.

If Tyrone introduced puke football, then on Sunday in Croke Park, Kerry were the little girl in 'The Exorcist' whose head revolves as she machine-guns the walls with a torrent of vomit

Brolly was unbowed after Kieran Donaghy's fist-pumping call-out, and responded to James O'Donoghue's twitter inquiry the following day, so his column this week was always going to be worth reading.

And he was even more trenchant in his critique in print than he was on Sunday, categorically describing the game as 'the worst final ever played' and remarked that the atmosphere was so dead that one could hear the 'hubbub of conversation' around Croke Park, something he had 'never before experienced at a football final.'

He proceeded to ruminate some more on his grand theme of late last Sunday, the Jimmy McGuinness inspired decline fo Gaelic football but finished with an exhortation to Kerry to get off their high horse.

You can read the rest of Brolly's article, Kevin Cassidy's take on the game and 34 more pages of analysis by buying this week's edition of Gaelic Life for €1.20. See here.
