Galway side Kilkerrin Clonberne won their third All-Ireland senior club football title in a row last night in Croke Park beating Waterford's Ballymacarby by six points.

Willie Ward's side were full value for their victory against their opponents who were making their first All-Ireland final appearance since 1998.

Eva and Lynsey Noone starred for the victors scoring ten points between them, while Chloe Miskell also played a crucial role scoring five points.

There were emotional scenes when the klaxon sounded at full-time, ensuring that the Dolores Tyrrell Memorial Cup would remain in the East Galway parish for another year.

Sarah Gormally was commanding at full-back on the day before being replaced in the second half.

Having had injury struggles in recent weeks following the All-Ireland semi-final, the result was all the more sweeter for the Ennis based vet.

Speaking to Jerome Quinn for the LGFA, Gormally fought back tears as she attempted to process what her team had achieved.

"It's very, very special. My niece didn't want to go back into the stand there. To spend that time with your family, it means everything," she said.

"It's been a long few years on the road. I struggled in the last two weeks with my knee and that team didn't give up on me. Thank god I got my chance out on the field again today because you never know if you are going to get that chance out there.

"Next year it might be someone else out there in my place so it means everything.

"I have a bad knee but I think the adrenaline of the semi-final kept me going and once that was over it seized up. I haven't trained in two weeks and it was only when I got out here today and warmed up that it seemed ok.

"I'd say that was Croke Park as well. If this was any other ground, I don't know if it would've stuck it."
