There's nothing about that music that could make you do anything other than smile.

James Last, the German composer and big band leader passed away in his Florida home yesterday at the age of 86. It's fair to say not many of us would have heard of Last if it wasn't for Jägerlatein, his glorious piece of music that has come to mean an awful lot to the GAA fans of the country. The Sunday Game took it on, made it iconic and the rest is history.

Granted, it's not Irish music at all but we've completely adopted it as the theme tune to every single one of our summers. So thanks Mr Last, you may have been an extremely successful composer with a huge back catalogue but you only needed one tune to get the country hooked.
