Philly McMahon's alleged headbutt of Aidan O'Shea will not result in a suspension after the CCCC opted not to charge him today, according to a report by Colm Keyes in the Irish Indo.
Nor will Cillian O'Connor face a charge over the incident which resulted in Rory O'Carroll requiring 12 stitches. O'Carroll had a fistful of O'Connor's jersey and the Mayo corner forward 'let the arm back', catching O'Carroll on the side of the head. It did not appear to be a deliberate elbow, however.
Pat McEnaney (who does not sit on the CCCC and was giving his personal opinion) told Balls.ie earlier that he did not believe that McMahon clearly struck him with his head. You can read that interview here.
As things stand, Diarmuid Connolly still faces a one match ban following his red card. An appeal will almost certainly be launched this week.
