Galway wing back Niall Donoghue was included in the county's All-Star Team Of The Year last night.

Manager Anthony Cunningham said he would always he be the silent partner of the team and would never be forgotten.

Donoghue led his club, Kilbeacanty, to the county quarter-finals before his death in October. The event was held in McCarthy's Bar in Kilbeacanty and Pat Kearney, the Secretary of the Galway Hurling Board, told the Irish Independent, "It was a fitting tribute to Niall. It was dignified but a very sad affair. The fact that it took place in Kilbeacanty added to that. His family are steeped in hurling and many of them were there on the night,"
