A 14 year old girl from Wexford has died after collapsing during an underage Gaelic football match.

Secondary school student Ciara Ryan suffered a suspected brain haemorrhage while playing in a match for Kilanerin GAA club in Gorey yesterday evening.

She became unwell and complained of a headache during the game. She subsequently feinted.

A paramedic was in atttendance at the game and delivered first aid at the scene. A local doctor arrived shortly afterwards.

A ambulance took her to Wexford General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
