VIDEO: Donal Og Hit Us With Another Of His Downright Weird Analogies Last Night

There's no tactics. It's not about tactics. Hurling is hurling is hurling. It's about honesty and work-rate and genuineness.

This has been Brian Cody's refrain for the past decade as Kilkenny have picked up eight of the last ten All-Irelands. A humble custodian to the core, he has no interest in portraying himself as a scheming mastermind, pulling the strings from the line.

The notion that Kilkenny don't do tactics has been pushed relentlessly since the early noughties.

Donal Og Cusack doesn't quite accept this mantra. Last night, he noted that the Hill 16 half of the field was saturated with Kilkenny jerseys during the second half. It was reminiscent of Waterford. Hell, it was borderline Donegal like. The Galway forwards, on a roll and looking in the zone in the first half, barely had time to think when they got their hands on the ball in the second.

Donal Og's talent for a left-field metaphor (we cannot confirm whether he is any better briefed on the sleeping habits of the Ayatollah since the night Cork were dumped out of the championship) was on display last night.
