5 Great Clubs To Test Yourself On Football Manager 2017

The beta is now available, so if like us you already know you are going to buy Football Manager 2017 then it's time to start playing, as your save can be transferred over when the game is released in full on November 4th!

As always, the question of which club to manage is something that will trouble everyone who boots up the game. A recent poll taken by the Football Manager team on their twitter account shows that 57% of their followers are going to start with the club they support.

That's fair enough, but it leaves 43% of players who don't go for their own team every year. The next most popular option was 'I've spotted a project' at 25% which means that keen users have already spotted a test that interests them, so that leaves the 18% who haven't made their mind up.

So here we are. We've picked out five clubs that promise to be absolutely cracking saves if you give them your best effort, and will surely test your managerial skills.

Best Football Manager 2017 teams to start a save with:

Parma

Starting in the third tier of Italian football after Param were promoted to essentially being a real team last year, you will be tasked with returning the once great club to the top-flight of Italian football.

If you can manage to break Juve's stranglehold on Serie A with Parma after coming up from their current situation, then that is a true sign that you are a Football Manager legend.

Basically, we loved those late 90s Parma sides and it's time to show them some love.

Real Betis

Any save with a Spanish side that isn't Real Madrid, Barca, or Atletico this year is going to be seriously tough, but you could be the man to give the sensational Betis fans the success they deserve.

It's not going to be easy, you'll have to secure your La Liga status and likely have to wait for a season before you can really shape the squad the way you want it, but it will be extremely rewarding if you can achieve Champions League football and a title.

Olympique de Marseille

Recommended

If you're looking to contest for the title right away, your best bet would arguably be Marseille in France's Ligue 1.

It will be tough, but despite the club going through a crisis at the moment, there is a lot of talent in the squad and if you can make a few shrewd signings, European football will be doable before mounting a serious title challenge.

With so many legendary players having played for l'OM, it's time to get this club back where it belongs.

Newcastle United

If you want to keep things to the Premier League, a reasonable idea considering the money available, a great test will be to see what you could do with the recently relegated Northern giant.

Imagine Rafa Benitez didn't agree to stay on and you've taken charge, what would you do? Who would you bring in?

You'll need to get promotion right away, which is tough with the demands of the Championship and the difficulty of the competition, but if you could make Newcastle a title contender again you'll have a statue of yourself erected in no time.

AFC Wimbledon

This is the year!

As AFC Wimbledon have recently overtaken MK Dons for the first time since becoming a club, the time is perfect for you to restore them to Premier League status.

While Akinfenwa may have moved on there is a hungry young squad and the team is sponsored by Football Manager, so that's nice.

If you can bring AFC Wimbledon to European Football, it's FM folklore. The legends that you carry from League One to the Premier League will mean something to you forever. It's why I'll always have a soft spot for Adam Lallana, as after coming up the divisions with Southampton I simply cannot dislike the man.
