The trailer for the biggest video game release in a generation is finally here. Grand Theft Auto fans were preparing for the release of the trailer for the 6th iteration of the storied franchise on the 5th December but after a leak on Monday night it was released on the Rockstar Games Youtube channel, a day early.
At the time of writing with the video not even 48 hours old, it currently has 107 million views. It was the 3rd most viewed video in its first 24 hours in the history of YouTube. With the release being confirmed for 2025, fans have already begun examining the trailer in detail to see what it may reveal about the game itself.
GTA Trailer Fan Theories
The first thing many fans have commented on is one of the main protagonists, Lucia's story. The trailer opens with Lucia being asked why she believes she's in prison. She responds, "Bad luck, I guess." Now, fans are saying that they believe the trailer, especially the parts featuring Jason and Lucia make more sense in reverse;

Reddit Theories
Now the weird and wonderful world of reddit has tried its hand at deciphering the much talked about trailer. One commenter stated how they believed it must be in reverse, while others contributed theories as to why it would be;
I also think that the trailer goes reverse. the heist is the first event, then they probably make more moves and enjoy some kind of party life (the car, strip club) where they may be exposed on social media, attract attention from cops, get busted (the swat scene) something happens she ends up in jail betrayed and with the sentenced "bad luck i guess"
Some commenters believed it to be a prologue mission, much like the one with Trevor and Michael in GTA V;
I was thinking this. Maybe that’s the prologue mission. Then you get out of prison with the ankle tag which limits you to a certain area of the map until you progress and track down Jason.
Who knows.
The next year is set to be full of sprinklings of footage and information in the build up to the release of what is going to be a game which looks set to change the landscape of the gaming world.
