Rockstar Games has finally released the first trailer for the hotly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. The trailer which was released earlier than expected by Rockstar due to a leak revealed a lot more about the next installment of GTA's generation-defining, open-world crime game series including who will be the main protagonist for GTA 6 as well as where it will be set and when fans can expect to play the game.

Why did Rockstar release the GTA 6 trailer early?

The trailer was released on December, 4th 2023, a day earlier than its it's expected release on December 5th. You can watch the trailer for GTA 6 right here. The trailer broke the one day record for Youtube views.

How long until GTA VI comes out?

At the end of the trailer, Rockstar revealed that fans of the open-world crime series should expect the game in 2025 but failed to mention any more details on the game's release.

What will GTA 6 be about?

Reading into the footage revealed during the trailer, players can expect GTA 6 to include the gaming series' first female protagonist. GTA 6's storyline will follow Lucia, who is seen in prison at the start of the trailer before being released.

We also expect there to be a second playable character (Lucia's love interest) although the trailer does not confirm this, it does tease fans with the idea.

Later on in the trailer, we see Lucia and her presumed love interest make a pact together before adventuring on a Bonnie and Clyde-esque heist before making their getaway.

In a statement about Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar Games said:

“Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet."

Players can expect to explore dive bars, beach parties, swamplands, farms, airports, and everything in between.

What City is GTA 6 set in?

The Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer revealed that the latest installment in the blockbuster GTA series will return players to Rockstar's fictional Miami setting, Vice City, which was last seen in 2006's GTA: Vice City Stories.

Unlike the 2006 game, however, Rockstar has expanded further than Vice City in GTA 6. The game will see players able to sprawl the fictional city of Leonida, which is inspired by Miami and greater Florida.

Diverse Gaming Map

Leonida will be made up of a lot more than just Vice City. The fictional state will also include dense urban areas, suburban neighborhoods, beach resorts, wetland areas, and much more.

The trailer reveals different locations on the map like Port Vice City, The Keys, Vice Beaches, Hamlet, Waning Sands, and beyond.

Will GTA 6 be on Xbox and PS5?

Yes, Rockstar has confirmed GTA 6 will be available to play on both Xbox series X/S and PlayStation 5.

They have yet to confirm whether the worldwide fan favourite game will be available to play on PC.
