While we wait anxiously for any news of the development of GTA VI, a new alternative has emerged in a new game called The Precinct.

Developed by Fallen Tree Games and published by Kwalee, the announcement trailer dropped yesterday and gives off serious old-school GTA vibes. However, the main difference is that you play from the cops perspective, protecting the streets of 1980s Averno City.

Like GTA, you play in the third person, although the angle position is much further back, making it feel more like GTA or GTA 2.

The neon-noir game sees you play as Officer Nick Cordell Jr., as you fight procedurally generated crimes, take part in high speed chases, and call in for the back-up of your fellow officers.

While we long for the return of GTA, we are hopeful for The Precinct, as other GTA clones such as Sleeping Dogs and Saints Row have been well received in the past.

There is no release date just yet, but it should be out before GTA VI.
