Ireland's biggest Valorant event took place last night, a glorious occasion which saw Shlugs emerge victorious from the inaugural edition of 'The A-Games'.

'The A-Games' saw teams from across Ireland battle it out over the past few weeks for a place in last nights grand final, an event powered by Virgin Media and in association with WYLDE GG that saw The Camden transformed into a fully-fledged Esports bar.

Shlugs, a team named after the iconic Francis Higgins skit, were to take on Tenks in a high-octane best of 3 showdown. Stakes were high, with a €5,000 prize pool and a 6 month contract at the WYLDE academy going to the victors on the night.

Welcoming those in attendance was Irish rapper JYellowL - Speaking to Balls on the night, he expressed his gratitude to Virgin Media and WYLDE for coming together to bring a gaming event like this to Dublin.

Valorant commentators MitchMan & Kaquka were on-hand with their voices and insight, taking the The Camden crowd and those watching on Virgin Media's Twitch livestream through each play on the night.

Shlugs went into the match as favourites and brimming with confidence and they came out from map 1 victorious, however by a tighter scoreline than initially thought, with Tenks pushing them far and running them close by a final scoreline of 13-10.

Gameplay on the night was sleek, smooth and uninterrupted - Virgin Media's 99.9% broadband reliability ensuring that the quality of the playing conditions matched the quality of the players on stage.

Tenks went into map 2 needing to win, but ultimately they fell to the might of Shlugs who simply had too much quality, cruising through Map 2 to become the first ever A-Games champions.

Following a barnstorming performance from JYellowL to cap off the night, Balls spoke to mcnuggets and canefis of Shlugs, who talked to us about playing with the favourite's tag and what lies on the horizon for them in their Valorant careers.
