Skyrim is as random of an RPG as it gets. You try romancing Serana and next thing you know you're a vampire and the screen's shaking in the open-world during day time, leaving both you and your character with a headache. Thankfully, curing vampirism in Skyrim is fairly straightforward.

If you unintentionally became a vampire, then you're in luck as the process is entirely reversible just like the other transformations in-game. There are a number of methods that can help you with your predicament, and you'll find the best of them listed in this guide.

Different Types Of Skyrim Vampirism

Before we move on to how to cure vampirism in Skyrim, you first need to figure out which stage of vampirism you're dealing with. If you were infected with the "Sanguinare Vampiris" pathogen, and it hasn't been three in-game days yet, then you aren't a full vampire.

At this point, your character should only feel symptoms of the infection such as a change in appearance and the usual weakness to sunlight. If, however, three days have passed, then your vampirism has reached completion and aside from the obvious downsides of needing to drink blood and being highly susceptible to fire damage, you'll have gained access to a handful of sinister spells.

Getting bitten by Lord Harkon or Serana will also give you full-blown vampirism instead of Sanguinare Vampiris, so watch out. Curing full vampirism is a little tricky, but not too tricky that you won't be able to do so quickly.

You'll find the cures to both types of vampirism in Skyrim in the methods listed below.

Cure Sanguinare Vampiris Skyrim

If your character is currently infected with the Sanguinare Vampiris disease and three in-game days haven't passed, then you can cure the vampirism by consuming either the "Cure Disease" potion or "Hawk Feathers".

Any of these will do the trick as both of them remove disease status ailments, albeit the Hawk Feathers is a better choice since you can carry a lot of them because of their lightweight. Alternatively, if you're having trouble with those two, head to a nearby shrine and receive its blessing. They are located in every major city in the open-world, so getting to one won't be hard at all.

Cure Vampirism Skyrim

There are many ways to cure full-blown vampirism in Skyrim. The most commonly used method is by activating the Rising Dawn quest line. You can do this by talking to a member of the Dawngaurd or by inquiring about the recent rumors from any nearby innkeeper. Regardless of what you choose, you'll eventually need to find the vampire expert Falion in the city of Morthal.

Interact with Falion and he'll ask you to bring him a filled Black Soul Gem, which can either be obtained randomly from chests and enemies in dungeons, or you can just buy it from Falion himself or from Enthir at the College of Winterhold. Falion will then perform a ritual after which you'll be back to being a normal human.

Another method of curing vampirism in Skyrim is by becoming a werewolf. To do so you'll have to join the Companions guild which is based in Whiterun. Once you're initiated, keep on completing all their main quests and they'll eventually offer you the opportunity to become a werewolf like them. This method is quite longer than simply going to Falion with a filled Black Soul Gem, however, being a werewolf does have its perks.

You can use the methods in this how to cure vampirism in Skyrim guide any number of times, so go nuts and try out all of the different transformations the game has to offer.
