One of Australia's most successful golfers Robert Allenby suffered a brutal kidnapping and beating in Honolulu on Friday night after reportedly being drugged in a wine bar and dumped 10km from a bar afterwards.

Allenby missed the cut at this weekend's Sony Open and was due to fly back to the US mainland Saturday but instead was recovering from various injuries and assisting the FBI in their investigations.

Allenby said:

“I was separated from my friend in the bar after we had paid the tab at 10:48pm and he went to the bathroom and next thing you know I’m being dumped in a park miles away,
“I only know this part because a homeless woman found me and told me she saw a few guys pull up and throw me out of the car. That is where I got the scrapes above my eye from the sidewalk.”

Allenby was also robbed during the incident but was lucky not to sustain any serious injuries.
