Winning the Ryder Cup must be a very unique experience for a golfer, and this doesn't exclude Shane Lowry. The solitary nature of professional golf means that it is very rare that you get the opportunity to experience success as part of a team, something that might explain why they seem to love this particular event so much.

This year's edition was a special one. Not only was it a memorable European triumph, but there was also some scintillating golf played on both sides over the course of the three days in Rome. Of course, a bit of controversy on and off the course only added to the spectacle.

It would have been a very sweet victory for Team Europe, especially for those of them who were part of the humiliating defeat in Whistling Straits two years ago.

Shane Lowry stole the show at European Ryder Cup press conference

Shane Lowry made his Ryder Cup debut back in 2021, and despite coming out on the losing side, he said the experience was one of the best of his life. He was desperate to be part of the team once again this year, and having been given a captain's pick by Luke Donald, he more than justified his selection.

The Offaly man would prove his worth on the course, taking 1.5 points from his three appearances. As well as that, he was a huge personality in the team room.

Having been the last European player on the course earlier today, he was very much at the centre of the celebrations on the 18th green.

It didn't stop there.

All 12 members of the European team took part in a press conference soon after the win was confirmed, with Shane Lowry stealing the show once again.

One of his most memorable contributions was this reaction to Rory McIlroy's assertion that Europe would retain the Ryder Cup on US soil in 2025.

As well as that, he couldn't help but have a dig at his friend and teammate after an incident the pair were involved in yesterday.

After McIlroy was asked about the confrontation he had with Jim 'Bones' Mackay in the aftermath of his falling out with caddie Joe LaCava on the 18th, Lowry joked that he was afraid that he was going to have to step up and give a helping hand to his mate.

Reporter: Are you much of a car park scrapper?

McIlroy: Eh, no!

Lowry: I think I was going to have to do all the work I'd say!

McIlroy: What?

Lowry: I said I was going to have to do all the work.

You can watch that exchange in full here.

Both McIlroy and Lowry will certainly enjoy basking in the glory of this victory over the coming days, with the pair set to return to Florida tomorrow where the celebrations are sure to continue.

Before then, they will no doubt be enjoying their last night in Rome with the Ryder Cup in tow.
