David Clifford was part of the star-studded field that took to the majestic K Club in Kildare on Wednesday for the Pro-Am ahead of this weekend's Irish Open.

The Kerry superstar lined up in a trio alongside comedian Conor Moore and jockey Brian Cooper, as a field packed with Irish sporting stars came together ahead of the premier golf tournament on Irish soils.

Joining Clifford from the world of GAA were Dean and Barney Rock of Dublin, Valeria Mulcahy of Cork, and Limerick hurler Cian Lynch. Former Irish rugby internationals Rory Best and Tommy Bowe were also in attendance, as well as Munster fly-half Joey Carbery.

Clifford's group naturally attracted much of the fans' imagination, with the 2022 Footballer of the Year one of the biggest names in Irish sport.

He did not disappoint those who decided to follow him during the light-hearted event, as he sensationally hit a shot which was more than a little reminiscent of Rory McIlroy's famed shotat the same hole on his run to victory in the 2016 Irish Open.

David Clifford smashes perfect recreation of famous McIlroy shot at Irish Open Pro-Am

Rory McIlroy returns to the site of his only Irish Open win this weekend, as the tournament visits the K Club for the first time since McIlroy triumphed there in 2016.

That win was defined by a famous finish which saw McIlroy claim a birdie and an eagle in his final three holes, with his approach shot to the green on the 16th the highlight of the lot.

The headline names of McIlroy, Lowry, and Harrington were all part of the field for Wednesday's Irish Open Pro-Am, alongside the likes of David Clifford and more massive names from the world of Irish sport.

Clifford teed off alongside comedian Conor Moore this morning, and Moore shared a video to his Twitter page of the Kerry footballer replicating McIlroy's famed shot in sensational fashion.

The shot was set up 15 yards back from the plaque placed on the 16th hole to commemorate McIlroy's layup, and Clifford managed to stick it to within 10 feet of the pin.

If it wasn't good enough that Clifford is the most talented footballer in Ireland, it looks like he's got a half-decent swing on him as well.

Something else.
