Shane Lowry is a top class golfer, but he's also as big of a GAA man as you are likely to meet. No matter what corner of the globe his career brings him to, he always keeps an eye on what is going on back home.

He has endeared himself to GAA people as a result. Rarely has an Irish sportsperson be so universally loved, and they showed their appreciation today.

During last week's games in Croke Park, the crowd were given constant updates on Lowry's progress during his final round on the big screen. This afternoon, the man himself was at GAA headquarters.

The Offaly native came onto the pitch before the semi-final clash between Limerick and Kilkenny, showing off the Claret Jug. He was given a huge reception by the 55,000 people in the ground.

Considering his love of the GAA, this surely would have been a very special moment for the golfer. What's better, he got to enjoy a cracking game of hurling afterwards.
