Tiger Woods Week

The latest of edition of the Tiger Woods franchise is out this week and we at Balls got a chance to don our golf shoes and hit the fairways. Building on the success of past editions the new edition offers the traditional gameplay. Pull back and forth on the analogue stick similar to the swing of a golf club. No problems there. No point in changing this winning formula.

Same as before, the key here is consistency; one slight deviation and your shot is hazard bound. Hugely frustrating when playing alone, hugely entertaining when playing with mates.

The graphics again follow suit from last year’s offering and are again top notch. Weather playing the Par 3 17th at TPC Sawgrass or teeing off on a long par five in St. Andrews the visuals on offer give a hugely lifelike experience.

So if the gameplay and the graphics are largely the same as last years edition what new features does this edition offer?
1. Legends mode: The legends mode is really cool. Tiger Woods has you play through several classic moments of golf history with some of the game’s greats such as Jack Nicklaus, Seve Ballesteros and Arnold Palmer. You play through five eras of golf starting back in 1860. These early era moments are very well done with your golfer even playing in suit and tie with traditional wooden clubs.

2. Courses: There are 7 new courses in total this year including TPC Louisiana, Mission Hills Country Club and Oak Hill Country Club. The new courses are essential in offering those with last years version a new challenge in the game. And for the first time you can now play in all four majors which means that the elusive Grand Slam is now a distinct possibilities for the hardcore among us.
3. Night Golf – Again something to spice up them multiplayer battles, the ability to play at night. Choose your tee off time and play right up until dusk with illuminated golf balls.

In conclusion, the game is well worth the few bob for Tiger Woods enthusiasts. The online play is better than ever and with the inclusion of the take down the legends feature and the additional courses the game is comfortably better than last year's effort.
