Conor McGregor Releases Statement Following Court Hearing

Conor McGregor was up in court today to face charges including three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief.

The result of the hearing which lasted under a minute, was that Conor McGregor has entered plea negotiations, with his next hearing set for July 26 2018.

Here is a statement by McGregor, given outside the court following the decision:

I regret my actions that led to today. I understand the seriousness of this matter and I am hopeful that this will get worked out. Thank you everyone.

Ariel Helwani spoke to McGregor's manager Audie Attar after the hearing about the Notorious' future with the UFC:

Today we're here to focus on the court we're not here to focus on any future plans until we handle this matter. Right now we're in good negotiations with the district attorney.

We're putting (fighting) on the backburner.

Attar also assured Helwani that the matter should be wrapped up by July 26th, when McGregor returns to court.

So there you have it, nothing much happened today, but hopefully there will be some closure to the case come July 26th, and we will see the Notorious back in the octagon sooner rather than later.

McGregor has not fought in the UFC since he became lightweight champion beating Eddie Alvarez convincingly back in November 2016 at Madison Square Garden.
