Conor McGregor's Top 5 Most Memorable Moments

Setanta Sports announced on Monday that ESPN and BT Sport are set to become part of the Setanta package. The deal means that Setanta customers will receive 30 Live UFC events including UFC 163 from Brazil in the early hours of August 4th with a main event of Aldo v Jung and Conor Mcgregor's bout with Andy Ogle in Boston on August 17th. Setanta subscribers will also get to see the full range of UFC support programming.

To celebrate the announcement, we take a look at some of the most memorable moments from one of the more interesting characters in Irish sport.

1. A Knockout Victory To Win A Second Cage Warriors World Title

After a decent start to his MMA career with four wins and two losses, McGregor won his next eight fights and to become a world champion at two weights. After claiming the featherweight division of Cage Warriors, 'Notorious' then challenged himself by jumping up a weight class to fight Ivan Buchinger for the lightweight title. McGregor brings the bout to a swift conclusion around the 6 minute mark.

2. MTV Documentary

After 11 knockouts in his 12 fights and now widely regarded as one of the best young fighters in Europe, McGregor signed with the UFC in February of this year. His meteoric rise from plumber to combat champion was charted by the insightful MTV documentary below.

3. UFC Debut

McGregor was already capturing the imagination of fight fans after his first interview with the popular MMA Hour show after which, the show's presenter, Ariel Helwani suggested he was the best interviewee the show had ever broadcast. This only increased the hype for his first UFC clash with American Marcus Brimage in Stockholm. McGregor proved he was not intimidated in the slightest by the step up in class with an emphatic first round knockout victory.

4. Classic Post-Fight Interview

The Crumlin native is never short of a good quote as evidenced by this exchange for his bio on the UFC website. 'Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? None. I have a masters in unarmed combat'. This charisma was on show again in his press conference after beating Brimage.

5. Toying With Patrick Hyland

McGregor engaged in a reasonably friendly spar with Hyland and achieved the impressive feat of making you feel sorry for a 27-1 professional boxer as he desperately tried to escape from one of the MMA man's holds.
