Daniel Cormier successfully defended his UFC heavyweight belt for the first time on Saturday night.

The victory over Derrick Lewis meant that Cormier - who is also the UFC light heavyweight champion - became the first fighter to defend both belts.

The 39-year-old made short work of Lewis. 2:14 in the second round, Herb Dean called a halt to the bout after Lewis tapped out with a rear naked choke locked in by Cormier.

Lewis was back in the Octagon for the title shot less than a month after defeating Alexander Volkov in a thrilling win at UFC 229.

In his post-fight interview, Cormier praised his opponent and also called out Brock Lesnar for his next night.

"Brock Lesnar, when you come, bring that brand new WWE title too because I feel like being a WWE champion," said Cormier.

"Let's go, Brock. Bring that belt with you if you come to my house."
