The simmering row between Mercedes teammates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg reached boiling point on Sunday after Hamilton claimed that Rosberg collided with him on purpose during the Belgian Grand Prix.

The collision happened on the second lap of the race at Spa and while Rosberg went on to finish second to Daniel Riccardo, Hamilton was forced to eventually retire having initially suffered a puncture in the incident.

Unsurprisingly the two drivers had differing opinions during the post race interviews.

The teammates then discussed the incident and Hamilton later made the incredible claims that Rosberg intentionally instigated the collision.

We just had a meeting about it and he basically said he did it on purpose. He said he could have avoided it, but he didn’t want to. He basically said, ‘I did it to prove a point’.

He just came in there and said it was my fault.

Mercedes chief Toto Wolff was understandably annoyed in the aftermath of the race and he seemed to also lay the blame at the feet of Rosberg.
