The world renowned Nurburgring motor racing circuit in Germany had to be shut down for a short period on Sunday after track staff discovered an unwanted 'member' on the track. Vandals had overnight painted a 4 metre wide, 15 metre long penis onto the track using what police estimated to be 20 litres of paint.

A police spokesperson was quoted as saying:

The area is often the target of vandals and therefore there is pretty tight security, it would not have been easy to sneak in that much paint and whoever it was clearly determined to carry out their stunt. Given the volume of paint we are assuming that it was more than one person involved as it would have been a lot of work to sneak the material and the brushes inside.

Staff had to bring in a paint stripping machine to remove the still wet paint which could have proved hazardous to any vehicles travelling at high speed on the track.
