The year was 1996 and a midcard wrestler in the WWE known as Stone Cold Steve Austin had just won The King of the Ring tournament. In a post match promo, after defeating born again Christian Jake 'The Snake' Roberts, Austin would coin one of the most popular catchphrases in wrestling history. ''Austin 3:16" was born.

Austin  said to TMZ:

“Austin 3:16 still rules … [but] if Tebow can throw for 316 yards again this weekend then hell, he can have the numbers and I’ll have no problem with it.”
