Having run Balls.ie for nearly three years, we've witnessed firsthand the power of social media during live games. Wading through the Twitter fracas during games might even be the fun most part of our jobs. That said, we are aware the social media experience during live games is often overwhelming, especially if the stakes around the match are huge. We're always interested in new technologies that might improve the experience for fans watching games via a second screen.

We have the opportunity to give 40 Balls.ie readers the opportunity to trial out a new social media platform during Man City - Chelsea on Sunday that will be launched in early 2013. The platform that we'll be testing on Sunday deals specifically with Twitter and is intended to provide a better, daresay, curated in-game experience of people tweeting about City-Chelsea. It'll be a huge game and we're told this platform might get people closer to the conversation happening around the game. We're alsotold this will be one aspect of a broader new social media platform being built for live sport.
