Michael Van Gerwen Aims Dig At Premier League Opponents After Win

Michael Van Gerwen Aims Dig At Premier League Opponents After Win

When Michael van Gerwen is on form, there is very few people in the game that can live with him.

The Dutchman is electric when he gets going, piling up massive scores and beating opponents in the blink of an eye. If he could keep his head right, he would already have a hatful of world titles to his name.

He hasn't been able to do that too often in the last couple of years, but he was in good form in the Premier League tonight.

Michael Van Gerwen recorded an 8-5 victory over Jonny Clayton tonight, moving to second place the table in the process.

Despite the continued absence of crowds, the 32-year old was even more animated than normal after this victory.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, he said he has to keep the viewers at home entertained because most of his opponents are 'boring'.

It's a very a big win. This what confidence does to you, I feel absolutely phenomenal. I know I have got more in the tank and can do a lot better, but games like this gives you confidence.

That's why it's nice to win this one...

I have to (be animated) because there is no crowd, there is no one here.

I have to create games all by myself because most of the opponents that I play are not really nice to watch. There is nothing in them, they are a bit boring so I have to create my own games...

They are all good players, but are they good players when there is 8,000 people in the venue? That is a different story.

I know I have to do it myself. I won the game and that is the most important.

Michael Van Gerwen has been known to throw a dig or two at other players in the past, so it will be interesting to see if these comments add a bit of extra needle to his upcoming games.
