Slightly more than a month after competing in his nineteenth and final World Championship final, Phil "The Power" Taylor has announced his post-retirement plans.

On the night he lost the World Championship final to tournament debutante Rob Cross, Taylor had announced that he would be spending the immediate future in Australia.

Looking forward to enjoying the fruits of an extremely profitable career at the pinnacle of professional darts, it would appear that Taylor's competitive instinct (or penchant for a jolly) has not yet abated entirely.

It has been revealed today that later this year, Taylor is set to take on some local darts enthusiasts in The Killeshin Hotel & Leisure Club in Portlaoise.

Like so many of his snooker contemporaries, Taylor will spend the evening playing against local players keen to claim a scalp against the sixteen-time World Champion.

Followed by a Q & A session with "The Power", Taylor won't be limiting himself to Ireland's midlands alone.

While the Portlaoise event takes place on April 22nd, Taylor will also be appearing in Dunmanway, Co. Cork, on April 13th, and Kilkenny's Langton House Hotel four nights before that again.

Taylor will also be playing in Clonee, Co. Meath in the interim between.

A rather bizarre turn of events so soon after his retirement, Taylor's motivation for indulging this unusual Irish tour remains unclear.

Akin to snooker players of a similar ilk, it is understandable that Taylor would exploit his name at some stage for potential revenue.

Yet, surely, recently documenting his trips to New Zealand, it is a bit too soon for him to be parading the clubs and pubs in search of such thrills.

For those who do go and challenge darts' greatest ever however, it will be a great nights entertainment.
