The first weekend of the Premier League is effectively in the books, and there's been a good bit of change to Premier League broadcasting. While TNT Sports brought some very welcome improvements to their coverage, Sky Sports had many changes themselves.

Peter Drury has replaced Martin Tyler in the commentary box. Graeme Souness had retired as well, with Daniel Sturridge enlisted as one of the pundits to replace him.

Which raises a natural question before yesterday's 'Super Sunday': would the new Sky Sports panel go down the route of more serious punditry or pursue light entertainment, with Roy Keane as a comic foil.

The answer, it seems, is vibes.

Daniel Sturridge Sky Sports debut compared to Key and Peele sketch

Daniel Sturridge stole the show with his Sky Sports debut on "Super Sunday".

While there were plenty of funny moments on Sunday's coverage, this interaction between Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold and the Sky Sports team had many thinking of an iconic Key and Peele sketch.

Even Sturridge himself weighed in on the hilarity of the comparison, sharing it on his own Twitter this morning.

The interview with TAA also featured those six memorable words: 'keep it funky with your boy'.

Keane's reaction to that was predictable, and very funny

While Sturridge's use of the phrase may have set his budding friendship with Roy Keane back, his vocals at the end of the show did little to improve matters.

As the first Super Sunday of the 2023-24 Premier League season was coming to a close, Micah Richards prompted an only-too obliging Daniel Sturridge to give viewers at home his best rendition of Usher's Nice and Slow, a choice, which by the looks of Keane's reaction set their potential friendship back light years.

After a show that left Keane asking himself 'Where did it all go wrong?' Sturridge has offered an update on Keane's reactions and what's next in his plans to win over Roy Keane.

While were not sure if the 'vibes' will be enough to get Keane smiling, we certainly saw glimpses of a smirk on the Cork man's face as Sturridge chatted away with Trent Alexander Arnold. We'll see how Keane adapts to the vibes as the season goes on.
