TMO Stabbing

The Television Match Official that was due to review the play at the Ireland v England game this Sunday has been attacked. Shaun Veldsman was assaulted in his car after officiating Saturday's Super Rugby game between the Stormers and the Blues in Cape Town.

The incident occured at 9pm local time, and Veldsman was stabbed in his lung. His lung has since been reinflated and he remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Veldsman was involved in the only red card of the Super Rugby weekend, but the footage involved meant that he couldn't add to the touch judge's foul play report. Blues' second row Hayden Triggs was sent off for punching Springbok Duane Vermuelen in the face off the ball.

Veldsman will now not take part in Ireland's clash with England.
