Ireland U20s head coach Richie Murphy has said that his squad are 'devastated' to hear of the deaths of two Dublin students on the Greek island of Ios over the weekend.

Andrew O’Donnell and Max Wall, both of whom attended St Michael's College and were in the country on a post Leaving Cert holiday, passed away in tragic circumstances in recent days.

Six members of the Irish squad also attended the Dublin 4 school, with Murphy passing along the condolences of his squad in a press conference ahead of their World Championship game against Fiji tomorrow.

It’s a really tough time.

Obviously, we are massively devastated to hear of the passing of Max Wall and Andrew O’Donnell, two boys from St Michael’s.

We have a number St Michael’s guys here in the squad, who know them well.

And as a father of kids around that age and an Irishman I feel really devastated for them and we’d like to offer our condolences to the Wall and O’Donnell family.

The Ireland team will wear black armbands against the Fijians as a mark of respect.

The game will kick-off at 12:30pm Irish time, with the team needing a win in order to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
