Connacht took on the Ospreys at the Sportsground earlier today, in their opening game of the 2023/24 season, with Ireland World Cup star Mack Hansen in attendance.

The Westerners were superb in head coach Brett Wilkin's first game in charge, as they ran out 34-26 winners.

Caolin Blade starred at scrum-half, running in a first-half hat-trick to help his side to a 27-5 lead at the break, while new out-half JJ Hanrahan kicked four conversions and two penalties.

Ospreys rallied well in the second 40, with 21 points in the last 32 minutes, but it was an excellent start to the season from Connacht none the less.

Supporting in the stands was Mack Hansen, who celebrated by messily downing the majority of a pint for all to see on live television.
