Handre Pollard

Out-half Handre Pollard has missed out through injury, however, he has been named on a standby list for the tournament happening in France in September.

This leaves Manie Libbok as the only regular out-half in the squad, and while he has shown supreme talent with ball in hand, other areas of his game lack the consistency of Pollard.

Lukhanyo Am

Lukhanyo Am, who some regard as the best centre in world, is also on standby after injuring his knee against Argentina last weekend.

Lood de Jager

Lood de Jager is the other big omission, with the towering lock suffering from an illness in his chest, that has been deemed more serious than initially thought. He too is on standby for South Africa's rugby World Cup Squad.

With three key players missing out, the disruption could prove to be key for Ireland's hopes as they look to avoid the tougher draw in the quarter-finals.
